knit happens

Little Scarlet and I have been nursing colds all week which translates to lots of tea, reading and movie watching. My attention has turned from baking to a rather unhealthy obsession with woolly animals which has inspired me to try knitting again. I figured I could skip the swatches since I've knit them before, but it seems two years is a bit of a stretch between knitting sessions. I pulled out the ol' Stitch and Bitch and tried to knit a little heart pattern. What I ended up with resembled neither a heart nor any shape with which you would be familiar.

So back to square one, I knit up a little swatch of stockinette and then with a ball of thrifted homespun, I knit this garter stitch scarf on size 15 needles. Now I know it might be awhile before I'm knitting sweaters and socks and bags, and I do see a couple of dropped stitches, but I'm pretty darned pleased with myself. I made a whole scarf!

I wouldn't know a dropped stitch if it hit me in the face, but that scarf looks awesome. And warm!
