Soulful Shade of Blue

It's good to be back. Sorry for the absence. The babes are home full-time and we spend most of our days outside. I had a hard time adjusting to this new schedule because it means that most of my indoor time is spent taking care of all the stuff that I usually take care of while the kids are at school. I haven't been very crafty and it just didn't seem fitting to blog about laundry or paying bills. And I certainly did not want to show any corners of my home.

Big T saved me from despair. Remember this? He spent one whole weekend scraping every last speck of wallpaper off the walls. That got me motivated again and I spent the next couple of days smoothing out the walls and painting. The room looked so clean and cheerful... until you looked down and saw the filthy orange carpet. So out it went and the next few days were spent scraping off the remains of old cement-like padding. It was well worth the effort. Behold the new dining/craft room:

I found the perfect fabric to use for a new bulletin board and some throw pillows for the living room. I think it will tie everything together nicely. The only downside is that the new wall color makes the living room look dark and cave-like in comparison so now I am itching to paint it as well. That sounds like a good fall project.

In other news, yesterday was the swap date for What's Cookin apron swap. I got a great little apron from my secret hostess. I'll post pic as soon as my other partner receives hers. Don't want to spoil any surprises.

It was my pleasure. I'm so glad you like it. It was fun picking out the fabric and coming up with a design.
I took some fabrics to the copy shop and had them color copied. Our scanner\printer died a while back (r.i.p. poor guy) and we have yet to replace it, so I have become very good friends with my local copy shop employee, Sherri.
