Handbags and Banana Bread

A couple of rainy days last week forced me back indoors and I was able to finish up some bags that I had cut out and ready to sew. The black one is for my mom for Mother's Day. She made patio furniture cushions from this fabric and gave me the leftovers specifically to make her a bag. The white one will be in my etsy shop. I have several more on the cutting table, as well as a few dresses and a skirt. It better rain again soon.

The house was chilly this morning and rather than turn the heat back on, I took the opportunity to fire up the oven. I have been using the same banana bread recipe for years but decided that since I have a few new cookbooks, I'd try something different. This recipe came from Martha's Baking Handbook and it is delicious (the secret is coconut). Banana bread is such a comfort anyway, but hot out of the oven on a cold morning, nothing beats it.
