So Long, Winter!
I was happy to see February end. So happy, I made these fabulous Hot Chocolate Cakes to celebrate. I found them here. Thanks Amy, they are to die for.
March is a busy month at our house. I haven't started spring cleaning yet, but I bought some new cleaning products to get me in the right frame of mind. I also bought seeds this week and am looking forward to getting them started. Seed catalogs have been my life line for the last few weeks. With everything so brown and ugly outside, looking at those lush green pages gives me hope. We also have a bunch of birthdays this month, which is the perfect excuse to try some new cupcake recipes.
There has been much talk here about the Highland County Maple Festival. We go every year without fail. We've trudged around in the rain, snow, sleet, mud, and (every now and then) sunshine; so we can stuff ourselves full of buckwheat cakes , maple doughnuts, fresh trout, and maple funnel cakes. I would drive the four hours just for the food, but they also have hundreds of craft vendors, lots of quality antiques, and the local shops are fantastic. This year I am on the hunt for rugs, jewelry, and hand dyed yarn. The real prize however; will be a gallon (that's right, I said a gallon) of maple syrup and a box of fresh trout. I can't wait.
